Map Widget User Guide
Working with Map Widgets
The Map Widget is a geographic information tool, which allows the User the ability to view the location of DCMS detection Devices on a map. The Map Widget also lets the User find specific Devices and display Detectors associated with individual Devices or Groups of Detectors. The Map Widget's boundaries or extents are determined by the User's geographic jurisdiction.
The Map Widget can also be used to create new Groups of Detectors. Detector Groups can be accessed through other Widgets, like the Chart Widget, the Worksheet Widget, or the Report Widget to view and manage specific traffic data.
To Navigate Within the Map Widget
The Map Widget has a set of very unique navigation tools to allow the User the ability to zoom to a specific map location, pan across the map window, and select a map region. Click on the Map Scale Bar to zoom in and out of the map window. Click on the Up/Down and Left/Right Pan Arrows to move across the map window. Select the Hand Icon and then Click the curser on the map window, Hold the mouse button, then move the mouse to pan the map window. Select the Magnifying Glass Icon, which is referred to as the Marquee-Select tool, to view a region of the map. To Marquee-Select, Click the curser on the map window, Hold the mouse button, then move the mouse diagonally, to create a Red Viewing box - the Map View will zoom to the selected region.

To Use the Map Widget to Select an Active Device
By using the Active Device selection option in certain DCMS.2 Widgets, the Map Widget can be used as a visual reference for viewing "real-time" traffic data. The Map Widget allows the user to select an Active detection device. The Active device is used as a type of default selection tool for viewing traffic data for individual detection locations on the map.
See below, by hovering the curser over a map icon an Information Bubble will appear, which displays the device description and User instructions. Clicking on a device icon, the Active device is enabled, "Click on the (detection) device icon (on the map) to make this the active device,." With an Active device icon selected, traffic data can be viewed from the, Device Video, Device View, Worksheet, Chart, and Comparison Graph User Widgets. When you first open these User Widgets traffic data from the Active device will be displayed automatically; the Active device setting is the default setting.
To Create Detector Groups using the Map Widget
With the Map Widget you can create groups of Detectors and manage those groups. By hovering the curser over a map icon an Information Bubble will appear. Control-Click a device icon to add the device's detectors to the selected group, "Ctrl-Click to add this (detection) device to your map group."
