Device Manager Widget

Working with the Device Manager Widget

The Device Manager Widget allows the Site Administrator the ability to edit the Device's Preferences. The Device preferences include information about the detection device, its specific geographic location, and its associated Detectors. The Site Administrator can also add or change information about the Device. The Device Preferences are used as a helpful reference while the User is utilizing other Widgets.

To Edit a Widget

To edit or change the contents of a Widget, use the appropriate Text Boxes to add information. The white Text Boxes are "optional" text fields, which do not need to be filled in. The yellow Text Boxes are "required" text fields, which the system needs for other application uses. The gray Text Boxes are filled in by the DCMS system, and cannot be changed. The table below outlines the functionality of the Device Widget components.

"Search" Description Enter Search text, to find a specific Device in the DCMS Database. Search is Case Sensitive. Search can find Records with partial word entries. You can extend Search criteria by specifying search with Active, InActive, or All Users.	Search / Add / Reset Click Search to begin search - Search results will be displayed in "Location Table" list below. Click Add to append an initial Device Search result to the "location table" list. Click Reset to restore list of database records to all available records.
"Location Table" List of Device records from the DCMS Database. Click a Description link to display record details in the Panel below.	Add/Edit Panel Select Arrow icon to expose Properties Panel.
Device Type "Pull-Down" Select the type of detection Device.	Lane Type Select Through-Lane, Left-Turn Lane, or Right-Turn Lane
Serial Number Do not modify Serial Number unless you are sure there is an error. DCMS will automatically populate this Text Field using the original Device Preferences.	Active Pull-Down Indicates whether the detector is Active or InActive.
Location Select an associated Location Image from the available list. Select Unknown, if you do not find the appropriate image in the list. To add associated images to the list, use the Location Manager Widget.	Detectors List Window Use the Detectors List Window to modify Detector Preferences.
Street Enter name of street where detector is located.	Add Button Click Add to open the Detector Editor Window to modify Detector Preferences,
XStreet Enter name of the cross-street of detector	Refresh Button Click Refresh to update the Detector list.
Direction Pull-Down Select Eastbound, Westbound, Northbound, Southbound.	Image Path Directory path to the location of the real-time JPEG Snapshot image.
Description Enter a text description, which best references the specific detector.	Browse Button Click Browse button to open directory Preview Window.
Data Interval N/A
Retrieval Interval N/A
Longitude Longitude of Detector's associated Device. CANNOT CHANGE.	Latitude Latitude of Detector's associated Device. CANNOT CHANGE.
Time Zone Pull-Down Select the Time Zone of the Device's location.	Map Angle N/A
Last Good Poll N/A	Save Select Save to update the Device Record in the DCMS Database.

To Change Detector Editor Preferences

Click the Add button to open the Detector Editor Window. Use the Detectors List Window to modify Detector Preferences, which are associated with the Device. Click on a Detector in the Detectors list to launch the Detector Editor Window. See the Detector Manager Widget section of the Admin Guide, for more details how to use the Detector Editor Window. Click on the Remove link in the Detectors List to remove a Detector from the associated Device you selected.

Caution

Please Do Not Change/Edit the Detector Number or Serial Number, as this information is linked to the specific Detection Device in the field. Changing this information will result in Loss of Traffic Data and Loss of Critical DCMS.2 Database configuration data.

It is SAFE to Change/Edit the Description Field(s).

See your DCMS.2 Site Administrator when Detection Devices are Replaced in the field.

To Add Device Manager "Real-Time" Image

To associate an image file to a specific detection Device, Click the Browse button of the Image Path Text Box. A directory Preview Window will appear; Select the appropriate JPEG file from the directory list. Hint: The JPEG file name matches the detection Device Serial Number.
